FTP support for the Scribe Online Text Connector

Scribe Online’s Text Connector now supports files located on FTP (unsecured File Transfer Protocol), SFTP (Secure FTP), and FTPS (FTP Secured with SSL) hosted servers! In addition, for each of these locations, you can use your Scribe Cloud Agent for both Source and Target Text connections. To show you how to connect to text files with various FTP locations, I’m connecting using a commonly known FTP client, FileZilla, since it supports FTP, FTPS and SFTP sites. I can use the same credentials used in FileZilla for my Scribe Online FTP connection. Go to your Site Manager (File > Site Manager, or CTRL + S) to find your saved connections: Supported FTP Connections After you’ve verified your connection, continue to configure your text file as desired. Once you’re done with the configuration, click Test Connection before saving your settings. Troubleshooting Connection Verification and Text File Connections My FTP Server is IP restricted, so the Agent creating the connection to the FTP server will need to have its IP Address whitelisted. You’re going to use the same credentials that you use to connect as other FTP applications, such as FileZilla – so make sure you can connect from your FTP Application first! If you’re validated to the FTP site, but cannot connect to your text file, open the file in either Excel or Notepad to make sure each column name is unique and there aren’t any extra spaces in them. You can also send the file to Scribe Support to troubleshoot a connection to it.
